It's been a hell of a journey for me through the music world over the last few years. The last 3 months have been especially incredible in many ways, and I have so many people to thank for supporting me lately. For those of you who haven't experienced it, life in the music industry is more than just what you see on YouTube and social media; it can be downright exhausting and demoralizing at times. We entertainers don't often like to share those feelings with the world explicitly, so we put them into our music and let them escape into the ether during our live shows.
Lately, I've been able to focus on better feelings: excitement, joy, gratitude. In the last 90 days, I've received an outpouring of support. People have been listening to the new single “Happily Ever After” and sharing their experiences with me. A bunch of folks have donated to my GoFundMe campaign, totaling over $3,000 now! I can't express how much all of this means to me. If you are someone who has watched a YouTube video, come to a show, donated a few bucks to the GoFundMe, or even just liked a photo I posted to social media, I want to thank you sincerely.
Is there a lot of work ahead? Yes. Is the album going to be done next week? No. Am I gonna have to figure out how to make some difficult things happen? Absolutely. HOWEVER, I know now more than ever that I have the love and support of a ton of people. Family, friends, fellow musicians, the venues who let me take the stage - the list goes on and on. Anyways, I feel like I could ramble about the gushy stuff all day, but let's finish this post with a cheesy tag line.
With the support I've gotten from you beautiful people, I feel like I can keep making music Happily Every After.
Stay Funky,
James DeVeau
